Apartment Review
I've never had a problem with Uptown.
Review Date: 3/25/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
I've rented two apartments from uptown, one on shields street and one on Stetson street. The shields street apartment was a cheap one (about 500 dollars or so) so it wasn't the nicest apartment in the area, but the price was right. The windows were older so they did let in some cold air, but the heat was free so I couldn't complain. I bought a 20 dollar electric space heater and it did more than an ample job keeping the place warm. I only had one maintenance issue while I was living there. The freezer was leaking water into the Fridge so I called on a Friday assuming they would fix it on monday. They showed up about 2 hours later and fixed the problem. The lady at the office was polite and so were the two maintenance men. I lived in the apartment for one year and decided to "move on up". Moved to Stetson street which is a little pricier (around 800 dollars after they include water). Its gated and one parking spot is included in the rent. If you have visitors there is enough street parking close by to accomodate them. My only complaint was my original parking spot was in a corner and was about 3 feet more narrow than all the other spots. I had a small car (sunfire) and it was still pretty difficult to get my car into the spot. The passenger could never open their door even if they wanted to. Anyway, that only lasted for about 3 days, I called the rental office and politely asked if they could assign me another spot. They did, and no one has been given that tiny spot since (that I'm aware of, no one parks there). Again the staff was super nice throughout the whole experience. Once every week or two they vacuum the hallways. The landscaping is well maintained and when it snowed they were there plowing and salting the driveway and sidewalks. My girlfriend was on crutches at the time so this was greatly appreciated because it was easier for her to get around with clean sidewalks. I have had to call maintenance once here as well. The washing machine drum detached from the base. I called the office and later that day a maintenance man stopped by and took a look. It was beyond what he could fix so he said he would call Sears and put in an order to have it fixed. The next morning Sears came, fixed the washer and we haven't had a problem since. Everything was handled quickly and without hassle. I've been in this apartment for around 7 months and actually plan to renew my lease either this afternoon or tomorrow. |
