Apartment Review for Uptown Rental Properties - Cincinnati, OH

When my current roommate and i moved into this location we were awed by how nice it appeared for a campus location, and the price seemed right too. However, just days after moving in we were extremely disappointed. We have lived here 9 months and to this day, many maintenance issues have NOT even been addressed. For 3 months our door was broken and even when locked you could easily peer 3 inches into our apartment. We did not have hot water for a week. The medicine cabinet was held to the bathroom wall by ONE SCREW. I realized this when it came flying off the wall at my face. Both towel racks have been ripped out of the wall with just a dry towel on them. Our "intercom system" which was featured as a major plus when shown the apt. STILL does not work. Uptown told us it would simply function as a doorbell, however it doesn't even work that way!! So, when we invite someone over/order a pizza we have to wait outside for the person to arrive because you do not get cell phone reception inside. Water continues to leak from the ceiling as it has since july 08. The first week in the apartment i did laundry and came down stairs to see that there was 3 inches of water on the floor and it was shooting through the ceiling into the basement apartments. When we called the rental company each time to address these issues, the person answering the phone continues to act as if it is the first time maintenance has heard of this issue. There are constantly shady people in and out of the apartment including the contractors hired by the rental company. Uptown charges 100.00 per resident for parking and recently sent an email for those renewing their lease that parking would increase to 150 a year JUST TO PARK. However, they don't even regulate who parks there and most of the time you can't even find a spot. They charge you 30/month for water which is insanity! Although the apartment appears nice inside and out, there are countless maintenance issues and the rental staff is worthless and not helpful.
