Apartment Review
Save yourself the hassle

I am writing about the 1722 building specifically. Rent is outrageous. They advertise a garage but they don't mention you have to pay for it until you go see the place. I was quoted half a garage space, that is shared with someone else, for $40. These so-called "Safe" garages have been broken and the cars parked inside had smashed windows. Storage units are about the size of a closet and they are in the basement where they are prone to waterbug infestation and water damage depending on where your storage unit is. Building is full of twenty-somethings that love to party, drink, smoke marijuana and have visitors all hours of the night blocking in your car if you happen to be lucky enough to get a spot in back. Which brings me to my next complaint, parking is MISERABLE!There are about 4 spaces in back and people tend to double park making sure they have a spot and making it hard for people to ever get a space back there. The grounds are well-lit but it kind of defeats the purpose of security when people use bricks to keep the back door propped open, not to mention the view of discarded restaurant bags and soda cans. There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers making it impossible to get laundry done because someone is ALWAYS doing it. There is a cut-off time where you can't do laundry after 10pm but people do because there is no stop to people doing laundry. I tried to get 2 loads done and entire weekend and never seen the washer empty. The one time I have been able to do laundry my clothes were tossed on the trashy old table down there still soaking wet. The central air units are VERY old, my bill was $176 for a month when I only used it at night. Normally I only pay $35 in electric, so that is quite a jump from using the central air. My apartments itself is nice, WE AREN'T ALLOWED TO USE THE FIREPLACE - EVEN THOUGH THEY ADVERTISE THE UNIT AS IT BEING FUNCTIONAL. As the other comment said, the hallways do smell of mildew and trash but the smoking people do in the hall makes you gag when you are walking through, there are no windows which cause for unpleasant odors. Also, like the other comment said, the management is intrusive. It seems like twice a month there is a note on everyones door talking about an inspection or some need to enter the apartments. When they change the air filters they snoop around the apartment and I ask what they are looking for and they reply they are just inspecting. I said you can't look through my belongings without a notice beforehand and the shrug it off and replied, "it isn't an inspection". People play corn hole and drink in front "yard" of the building which makes for an awkward moment when you come home and get hit with a corn hole bag and no one apologizes. Basically, save yourself a mountain of trouble and move somewhere else. As soon as my lease is up I am out of here.
